Intermezzo closed on Saturday and I should start working at the Side sometime soon, but having not done a single shift there yet and not worked at all since Saturday (when I only did 5 hours) I'm getting worried. I could well be working tonight but usual I'd get more notice from Darren. I'm also worried this whole working at the Side thing is too good to be true. I'm sure they had plenty of staff before we (the Intermezzo staff) started working there, so even if I can get some shifts I'm not sure they'll be enough to cover my rent/bills etc.
On the plus side, I'm going to ATP in just over a week. I saw my friend Mike who I hadn't seen in months, at the Don Caballero/Lords/This Aint Vegas gig in Sunderland last night. He's also going to the Nightmare Before Xmas ATP.
Also, I met a nice girl the other day who had was working (volunteering) the Northern Lights Film Festival which was on at the Tyneside and would come in for coffees a lot in the past week. I kept seeing her and would always smile at her and finally spoke to her properly for the first time on Thursday night at the Closing party (she's from Bulgaria and is doing media production at Sunderland uni), but was pretty drink so didn't think it was a good idea to ask her out at the time because she might think I was just asking her out because I was drunk or something but now I'm fucking kicking myself because I don't know if I'll see her around anytime soon. I did tell her everyone in Intermezzo was going to work at the Side but obviously there's no guarantee she'll be there or even that I'll run into her. One of my friends thinks I should email the organiser of the NLFF and try and get her email address or number. I'm almost tempted to. I've never gone out on a limb before like that but there's a first time for everything and it's not like I have anything to lose. |
